How Big Is The Universe? - Video

Cara Santa Maria:

If you had to pick one thing, the most inspiring thing about the cosmos that you wish everybody knew. What would it be?

Neil DeGrasse:

That's easy, that is the discovery that the stars in the galaxy that exploded, only a rare subset of them do this, those are the stars that had manufactured elements from the periodic table deeply in their core and scattered across the galaxy, and is these very elements that are the building blocks for life itself. So, it is not just a figurative true statement that, in fact, we are stardust, it is literally true.

I was watching this video, and I found this little surprise at the end. I agree with this idea, the world would be a better place if everyone could take a minute and think about the greatness of being stardust. I don’t know you, but I feel this much more superior than just thinking that we are the experiment of a sadist/misogynic/vengeful/jealous/imaginary I-don’t-know-what magic spirit, also named God.

UPDATE: The video is no longer available. Sorry.
